Soil Types (Blocks A - D):

Soil samples were collected in blocks A - D before the initial planting in 2011. There were three primary soil types: Goodin, Dupee and Sitton; all derived from a Marine Sedementary bed/base rock. Goodin is found on a majority of the site (4+ acres). These are moderately shallow to moderately deep, well drained, and have a medium water holding capacity. Dupee are deep, moderately well drained soils with a medium low to medium water holding capacity (~3 acres). Sitton makes up the smallest area (~2 acres). These soils are deep to very deep and well drained with a higher water holding capacity then the Goodin. The remaining small acreage of the area is made up of other soil types that are closely related to the main three.
